There is a new feature in Filemaker 3.0 called Status. You could think of it as a Big Brother monitoring program for your Filemaker database projects. It can sit in the background monitoring condition changes in the database/Filemaker/computer and then react.

Designers Log is used to to log and report on how you invest your time. This data can then be used in billing, return on investment calculations, goal setting and much more.
The database is broken down into 4 major categories Publishing, Consulting, Training and a catch all category called Other.
You can pre-define up to 6 classifications per category and set each to automatically enter both category and class information via a button called Define Buttons.
Designers Log is shipped as a shareware product. You can use all the features it was intended to be used for. However, the ability to edit Designers Log feature set via Filemaker Pro 3.0 has been disabled. This is were the registeration fee comes in.
To receive a non-password protected copy of Designers Log requires a $20.00 registeration payment. You can order by phone, email or even send a letter to our office. Details are provided below.

The session info section contains 5 data entry fields. A unique session id is automatically created and displayed in the Session ID field. The creation date is also automatically created for every new record and is displayed in the Date field. The Category and Class fields are used in a hierarchical method for reporting reasons. ENTRY SCREEN
The Entry Screen consists of 5 main areas. Four are labeled Main Controls, Session Info, Time Info and Session Notes. The other section is for the automatic entry of Session Category and Session classification via a user defined button.
Main Controls in the Entry screen...

s Total is used to calculate the time invest for today
s sessions.
Reports takes you to screen with other extensive report options.
Defines Buttons take y
ou to a screen where you can define buttons to automate data entry on categories and classes. Another benefit of using these buttons is that categories and class information will get entered in a consistent manner. This is helpful when processing reports on time investments.
Define Clients allows you to assign a client to a particular project. You can then automate a report to include in the clients invoice for verification reasons.
SESSION INFO
The session info section contains 5 data
entry fields. A unique session id is automatically created and displayed in the Session ID field. The creation date is also automatically created for every new record and is displayed in the Date field. The Category and Class fields are used in a hierarchical method for reporting reasons. The can be user defined by clicking the Define Buttons filed. The title screen is an optional field used to uniquely identify the session in user specified terms.
TIME INFO
The Time Info session consis
ts of 2 buttons and 3 time specific data entry fields. The buttons will paste in the current time in either the session start or session end fields. The time start field is populated automatically when a new record is created. You can click inside of both fields to edit start and end times. The duration field is calculated by subtracting the start time from the end time and is not editable.

SESSION CATEGORY AND CLASS AUTO ENTRY BUTTONS
There are 24 user definable button below the Session Notes data entry section. They are shipped in 4 categories with 6 class buttons each. Pre-defined Categories include Consulting, Publishing, Training and Others. You can change these buttons via the Define Buttons button in the Main Controls section. Changes to these buttons DOES NOT affect prior class settings butFL will take affect on the very next time that particular button is selected.
